Research directions
The scope of activities of the Department
- Silviculture and forest protection in mountainous regions, in particular the renewal, care and reconstruction of spruce stands and stands on post-agricultural land.
- Anthropogenic threats to mountain forests in the conditions of multifunctional forest management and their impact on biodiversity.
- Records and forecasts of biotic and abiotic threats in the mountain forests of the Carpathians and Sudetes, with particular emphasis on harmful insects.
- Biology and ecology of the most important insect pests found in mountain forests, as well as new or little known pests.
- Shaping the health and threats to mountain forests in spatial terms, using GIS technology.
- Determining the threat to forest stands by fungal diseases and other pathogens.
