Project goals

The aim of the project is essential support of Georgian education staff in the field of forestry training. The project assumes training of three people, who will, in the future, conduct lectures at the University of Tbilisi. Trainees selected by the Partner of the project, Ilia State University, will spend one month in Poland. During this time, they become familiar with the system of forest education in Poland. They will attend classes in selected forestry technical schools. During their stay at the Forest Research Institute, they will be auditors of lectures from silviculture and forest nursery, forest management, forest protection, forest policy and economics. They will also acquaint with non-formal education, during visits to selected centers of environmental education and forest arboretums.
The second operation in the framework of the project will be a working out of two manuals concerning (1) forest management and (2) botany and silviculture of the most important tree and shrubs species of Georgia.
The project is the only first stage in long-term cooperation between the IBL and Ilia State University, which will have a positive impact both on the state of forests and natural resources, as well as the public perception of forestry.
