Initial results of norway spruce stump inoculation with phlebiopsis gigantea biological preparation
Preliminary field experiment was established in order to test wood-decomposing fungus Phlebiopsis gigantea for biological control of root rot pathogens.
Field experiment with application of Finnish biological preparation of Ph. gigantea (in form of a dry powder containing c. 107 oidia/g) on Norway spruce stumps was performed in four Norway spruce stands in Poland. After 12 months the results of inoculation were analyzed. Effectiveness of inoculation was from 0% to 80%. Wood penetration by fungus was from 4 cm to 11 cm deep (from the surface of stump).
