Abstrakt

The objective of this paper was to describe a methodology of wildfire detection and mapping using remote sensing data of NOAA series satellites. Achieved results were implemented for seasonal and annual analysis of biomass burning over Zabaikalye territory (Asian part of Russia). Comparative statistics concerning this region revealed an apparent growing trend of number and total area of forest fires. Also the obtained results for this territory were validated with the help of higher spatial resolution data of Landsat 7.
