Air pollution research in four selected regions of Poland

Abstrakt

Methods and results of air pollution research in four regions of Poland as a part of two-year program aiming at investigation of the effects of environment pollution on pine and spruce stands are described. Ten-year series of passive sampling data show significant decrease on sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides deposition in the investigated areas — except of the Sudety Mts. region where the air pollution remains nearly constant. This last observation is confirmed by other methods used in the recent years (passive and active air sampling, mobile air-monitońng laboratory) and is related to the still existing air pollution due to the Polish-Czech-German „black triangle” industrial area. The mobile laboratory equipment (pollution analysers and wind detectors) allowed to identify two distant sulphur dioxide sources.
