Influence of the coniferous stands on the quality of precipitation. Part III. Deposit in coniferous stands of the Puszcza Augustowska
The results of 1998–2000 investigation of deposit reaching forest floor with precipitation in coniferous stands of the Puszcza Augustowska are presented. Measurements of chemical composition of precipitation were made in Scots pine and Norway spruce stands as well as on the open space in accordance with the methodology of environmental monitoring program.
Scots pine and especially Norway spruce stands showed significant influence on ion loads reaching the forest floor. In the years 1998–2000 in the Puszcza Augustowska the average ion inflow on the open space was equal to 1,48 kmolc/ha/year while under the pine canopy was greater of about 20% and under the spruce one of about 100%. Greater values of ion deposit ware measured during the wintertime compare to summer period. Tree crowns influence the deposit composition – under the canopy the share of ammonium ions in the precipitation was smaller and share of K, Ca and Mg bigger than on the open space.
