Welcome to the Forest Research Institute!
The Forest Research Institute was established in 1930 as an Experimental Station of the State Forests Organisation, and in 1934 it has been transformed into the Forest Research Institute of the State Forests. Since 1945 it has been acting as the Forest Research Institute, currently being subordinated to the Minister of Environment.
The Director and the Scientific Council are the head bodies of the Institute. The Scientific Council is a decisive, initiating and advisory body of the Institute and is empowered to award PhD degrees and habilitation (qualifying for associate professor position). It is also authorized to submit candidates for the title of professor of forest sciences.

On 6 December 2012, in Sękocin Stary was held a cyclical Scientific Seminar entitled „The impact of forest management on the conservation status of selected habitats and species under protection”.
The use of biomass for energy purposes
On 20-21 November 2012, at the Forest Research Institute was held a Science and Technology Conference „The possibilities and conditions for the supply of wood for energy purposes”.

The Forest Research Institute conducts research in the field of forestry and nature conservation, actively including the current problems that require practical solutions.
