Influence of the coniferous stands on the quality of rainwater. Part II: seasonal variability of amount and chemical composition of precipitation in the coniferous stands of Augustów Forest
The results of the observation from Augustów Forest on the amount and chemical composition of precipitation are presented. The rainwater measurements on open space, under the canopy of Scots pine and Norway spruce stands as well as stemflow were made according to the methodology of the environmental monitoring.
Results showed significant differences of chemical composition between open space and throughfall precipitation, bigger in winter than in summer and in the Norway spruce stands than in the pine ones. Stemflow was found to be most acidic and of highest content of mineral elements as well as of lowest seasonal variability of that parameters compare to precipitation on open space and coming through canopy.
