Effect of first 5-years storage temperature on vitality of Norway spruce [Picea abies (L.) Karst.] seeds from different trees
Seeds of Norway spruce collected from 55 trees in Jugów forest district have been analyzed before and after 5 years-storage in regard on vitality. Four different variants of storage temperatures have been applied: –15 °C, –20 °C, –25 °C and +3 °C. After the storage the vitality was satisfactory in all variants of storage temperature. Only small decrease of germination energy have been observed in variant +3 °C temperature of storage. A small decrease of 1000 seeds weight have been observed in all variants of storage temperature. The bigger differences have been noticed between seeds collected with single trees than between the one stored in different temperatures.
