Abstrakt

Surveys of ground layer vegetation are reliable tool for spatial and temporal variation monitoring of forest environment. Vegetation dynamics of forest wetlands communities were studied by re-sampling of phytosociological records in the 1960`s-1970`s in the Bialowieza Forest. The study concerned the following forest plant communities: Ledo-Sphagnetum magellanici, Sphagno-Betuletum pubescentis, Thelypterido – Betuletum pubescentis, Sphagno girgensohnii-Piceetum, Ribeso nigri-Alnetum, Circaeo-Alnetum, those occurred in Białowieża National Park`s strict reserve (BNP) and nature reserves: Wysokie Bagno, Michnówka, Głęboki Kąt.

The Ledo-Sphagnetum magellanici and Sphagno-girgensohnii-Piceetum community had the same sample plots where a breast high diameter of tree species and number of brush and tree species with high shorter than 1.3 m were measured. The ordination methods (DCA) made the model of vegetation changes according to main environmental gradients possible.

It is demonstrated that with the ecological indicator value every site hase a lower value of moisture soil indicator than it was in the past besides Circaeo-Alnetum. The soil fertility did not increase only in Ribeso nigri-Alnetum and Circaeo-Alnetum habitat.

The broadleaves species share, especially birch and alder, increased in Ledo-Sphagnetum magellanici and Sphagno girgensohnii-Piceetum association. The obtained results indicate changes in water conditions and in fertility of hydrogenic habitats, although those changes were not occurred in every community in the same level.
