Measurements and observations which were carried out on observation plots established in the 60’s in the Forest District of Jegiel (at the present time Wyszków) showed that investigated populations of spruce are characterised by a variety of growth dynamics during sequential observation periods. The lack of differences between populations in their juvenile period does not always reflect their similar silvicultural value and potential productivity in the later period. The proper estimation could be done no sooner than after stabilisation of growth features of investigated populations. The relative stabilisation of populations mainly depends on the set of investigated populations (the area which they represent). Populations coming from outside of the north east range are definitively less variable regarding growth features than populations originated from southern range with definitive domination among them of spruce from Istebna Bukowiec
