Abstrakt

The paper presents initial results of studies conducted in a framework of research project started by IUFRO-6.18.00 Working Group „Gender and Forestry” and UN/ECE/FAO Team of Specialists – ToS On Best Practices on Gender and Forestry. In 1960s, share of women studying forestry was minor, however it makes up 17% at present (average from 1985–2000).Women are nearly 18% of employees in Forest Districts of the State Forests, although, their rate in higher management levels (Regional Directorates and Directorate General) is higher except of the first-rates management posts. The historical background and development of women involvement in Polish forestry was discussed against the background of changes in employment that had place during last years.
